Buying pipes in Zambia: common questions

Still unsure? Send us a message and we’ll help you choose.

Where can I buy PVC and HDPE pipes in Lusaka?

Buy direct from our factory at 687 Los Angeles Road, Makeni, Lusaka, or from our Kitwe branch on the Copperbelt. The quickest way to order is to send your pipe list on WhatsApp to +260 978 002 222.

How much do PVC and HDPE pipes cost in Zambia?

Pipe prices depend on the size, pressure class and quantity, and they follow raw material costs, so we quote each order at current factory prices. Send the sizes, classes and quantities you need on WhatsApp and we reply with a price.

Do you supply pipes outside Lusaka?

Yes. We supply water utilities, mines, farms and contractors across Zambia from our Lusaka factory and Kitwe branch. Tell us your town or site when you ask for a quote and we'll give you the delivery options.

What pressure class of PVC pipe do I need?

The class number is the working pressure in bar: Class 9 is rated for 900 kPa, roughly 90 metres of head. Pick a class above the highest pressure in your line, including pump start-up surges. If you're not sure, send us the pump head and pipe length and we'll recommend one.

What is the difference between uPVC, mPVC and HDPE pipe?

uPVC is rigid, low cost and joins with rubber ring sockets, which makes it ideal for buried water mains. mPVC is tougher and lighter than uPVC for the same class, so long mains cost less. HDPE is flexible, comes in coils, and is fusion or compression jointed, which suits mines, uneven ground and long runs.

Which pipe should I use for a borehole?

Line the hole with uPVC borehole casing and slotted screens (110 to 250 mm, slots chosen to suit the formation). For the rising main from the pump, use HDPE or PVC pressure pipe in a class above the pump's maximum head.

Are Zambezi pipes ZABS certified?

Our PVC and HDPE pipes carry the ZABS certification mark and are made to SANS 966, SANS 4427, SANS 791, ISO 1452 and DIN 4925 under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system, with testing in our own laboratory.
